Verdict: Mullvad VPN provides a lower‑cost, privacy‑centric solution with a flat €5/month fee and WireGuard‑only architecture, outperforming ProtonVPN Plus on value while offering comparable performance (per Mullvad pricing and independent speed tests). ProtonVPN Plus adds features like Secure Core but at a higher price point, making it better for users who need multi‑hop routing. Overall, Mullvad is the stronger pick for budget‑conscious privacy seekers.
