Skip both if

  • Neither publishes peak brightness, HDMI 2.1 ports or VRR / ALLM yet.

Verdict: This is a close call only on paper: Sony A90J 55-inch and Sony Bravia XR A90J 55-inch 4K 120Hz are two retail titles for the same XR-55A90J. Both use the Cognitive Processor XR, a native 120Hz 4K OLED panel, and two HDMI 2.1 ports on a 2021 Google TV set. Pick whichever listing is the confirmed 55-inch XR-55A90J at the lower out-the-door price; there is no picture, gaming, or audio winner.

Sony A90J 55-inch 4K OLED TV

What works

  • Master Series XR-55A90J uses a 4K OLED panel with XR OLED Contrast
  • Native 120Hz panel with two HDMI 2.1 ports for 4K/120, VRR, and ALLM
  • Acoustic Surface Audio+ drives sound from the panel so dialogue follows the image

What doesn't

  • 2021 Google TV set with no ATSC 3.0 tuner and a shorter update path than 2025 Bravia OLEDs

Sony Bravia XR A90J 55-inch 4K 120Hz OLED TV

What works

  • Retail title is the same XR-55A90J Master Series OLED, not a second chassis
  • Bravia XR branding is the Cognitive Processor XR already in every A90J
  • 4K 120Hz is a panel spec of this set, not an upgrade over a plain A90J listing

What doesn't

  • Same two-port HDMI 2.1 limit as any other 55-inch A90J

Bottom line

Our pick: Sony Bravia XR A90J 55-inch 4K 120Hz OLED TV.
